A great day to be in the mountains with friends…
Our friends from Corpus Christi, TX are in Breckenridge staying at the home here in Summit County. We have the day off so we decided to take them on a little drive across Independence Pass, since it is open for the summer, and into Aspen.
About our drive over Independence Pass and into Aspen… Leaving Silverthorne with traveled west on I-70 and took highway 91 which passes Copper Mountain Ski Area and takes us through Leadville. Then taking highway 82, it took us through the cute little town of Twin Lakes, over Independence Pass, elevation 12,095 at the Continental Divide, and into Aspen and then to Maroon Bells.
There is always a lot to look at when we take this drive, several times each year, and today was no exception.
